THE BELLEVUE/PAPILLION MUSIC TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION (BPMTA)

  • The Bellevue/Papillion Music Teachers’ Association has 21 members, all teachers with private studios.  13  of these teachers are active members of the Nebraska Federation of Music Clubs.

  • Our Association meets 8 times a year and sponsors 4 main events for Bellevue and Papillion private music students.

Keyboard Karnival:  Every November we sponsor the Keyboard Karnival – a Sunday afternoon of games, tests, prizes, food and a store.  Music theory events turn into fun for beginners to early advanced students as they participate in one of ten levels of competition appropriate to their level of study.

Recitals:  We join forces to present two recitals during the school year – in December and in April.  A few students from several studios provide a varied and interesting program.

Junior Festival:  The Federation Festival in the spring is our largest event with approximately 175 entries.  Students play pieces for a judge and receive a rating and a comments sheet.  We have entries in piano solo, piano duet and trio, hymn playing, theory, vocal music, and band instruments.  Students earn certificates and points toward trophies provided by the National Federation.

Scholarships:  In the spring the Association awards at least (sometimes more than one) scholarship to a qualified senior from one of the studios who is registered to be a music education or music performance major in college.  The amount of the scholarship varies with the number of eligible students and the amount of money available in the fund.  All scholarship money is disbursed and is not used for any other purpose by the club.

  • The Bellevue/Papillion Music Teachers is a supportive group of teachers which welcomes new members.  Our president is Bev Krajicek .  Any teacher new to the area or anyone who would be interested in joining or who has questions is welcome to contact any member of the club.
