JUNIOR COMPOSERS CONTEST
The NFMC Junior Composers Contest is open to all members in
good standing. The competition includes four age categories (as of
March 1 of festival year)
Level I: 9 years and under
Level II: 10-12 years old
Level III: 13-15 years old
Level IV: 16-18 years old
Original compositions will be judged at the state level, with
all composers receiving constructive comments from a qualified judge.
First and second place winners in each level will receive a cash prize of
$20 and $15 respectively. First and second place compositions will be
sent onto the Regional Competition.
There will be a regional scholarship, up to $300, awarded to
a participant between the ages of 14 and 18 (as of March 1 of the festival
year) to attend the Junior Composers Institute at Northwestern College in
Roseville, Minnesota in July.
