The Nebraska Federation Scholarship Competition

The Nebraska Federation of Music Clubs is proud to sponsor the Nebraska Federation Scholarship Competition, a competition for piano students between the ages of 16 and 25.  Held in February or March, this competition is designed to encourage dedicated and serious music students from conservatories, colleges, universities and private studios.

In order to participate, the student’s piano teacher must be a member of the Nebraska Federation of Music Clubs.  Students may enter the Junior Festival in the same year as the Nebraska Scholarship Competition either as Juniors (through age 19) or as Adult Students.

Repertoire: Contestants will perform solo works representing three contrasting style periods.  All pieces must be memorized.  The program should be 12-18 minutes in length.

Prizes:

First Place: $300.00

Second Place: $150.00

Third Place: $100.00

Winners are also invited to play at the State Honors Recital.

Deadline:  Six weeks prior to Competition.

For questions regarding repertoire requirements, membership, fees, deadlines or other information, please contact the Nebraska Federation Scholarship Competition Chair listed in this year’s directory.

National Student Auditions

Piano (16-25) and Voice (18-25) students.

No National Student Auditions will be held in Nebraska this year.

The Nebraska Federation of Music Clubs sometimes holds National auditions for students between the ages of 16 and 25.  In order for students to enter, they must be members of the Federation either through affiliation through a Federated College or University, as Individual Members, or studying under a Federated teacher. Students may not enter the Junior Festival in the same year as the National Student Audition.

The National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) Biennial Student Awards are given in odd-numbered years to students who have won in the State, District, and National auditions in one of the thirteen classifications: Piano, organ, harp, classical guitar, man’s voice, woman’s voice, violin, viola, violoncello, double bass, orchestral woodwinds, orchestral brass, and percussion.

Student entrants must be in the following age categories as of March 1 of the audition’s year:
Instrumental: 16 through 25 years
Voice: 18 through 25 years
